Marking the World Environment Day on June 5, 2017, employees of Thomson Reuters set out to Ballari, the city that has been declared drought-hit by the government of Karnataka. Being a drought-prone area with high temperatures and dry climate, water scarcity is a major issue.
World Vision India has been working in 30 villages in Ballari, addressing the needs of education, health and water. Thomson Reuters partnered with World Vision India to engage their employees in a social cause.
As a green initiative, the employees distributed saplings to families. They themselves planted saplings in public places like parks and school grounds.
The Thomson Reuters team presented a skit, conducted games and quiz for children and gave awareness on hygiene issues. They also distributed gifts to the children.
Here are the glimpses of the two-day programme:
Being conscious of environment, which our Lord has given us to utilise cautiously, I am happy that my sponsored child Eresh in Bellary was part of this greening venture. It’s good learning experience while young. thaks to World vision for the effort.
God Bless!
